Trying to parse information for these type of events is always challenging but there are individuals out there who provide the information with as little bias as possible. John Gruber of Daring Fireball, I think is one of them. I found his post "Notes and Observations Regarding Yesterday's 'Let's Rock 'Apple Special Event" (via macrumors) well written and to the point.
I was thrilled to find out that Apple was releasing an in ear headset for $79, but it appears that it is only compatible with iPod. I wonder why did not include the iPhone in the compatibility list. Is it the remote control? The included iPhone headset remote is pretty lame since it only allows you to skip forward and provides no volume control. This new headset does what you expect but unfortunately not for the iPhone...
I can't confirm until tomorrow but it also looks like there is no new Exchange ActiveSync functionality in 2.1. I have been waiting for 2.1 to write up my gripes about the lack of certain functionality with Apple's implementation of Exchange ActiveSync.
