VentaFax has just released version 5.8 with some limited Vista compatibility. You can view the limitations here.
I use VentaFax to receive faxes using my Sunrocket Signature number. I was able to get VentaFax 5.71 to run as a service under Windows Vista. It detects my Sunrocket Signature number distinctive ring (ring-2) on my Intel based 536EP modem, receives the fax and forwards it to me via email. I never got the user application to work correctly, I ended up using the Microsoft scan and fax application for outbound faxing.
I will have to try version 5.8, however if it won't run as a service (see limitations), it won't help me and I may stick with 5.71 since I receive more faxes then I send. Most of the world now has email and I use email .pdf attachments.
