This past weekend I started getting ActiveSync error 86000108 again (my original post on the subject). This time I noticed that I was still getting my emails, but my tasks were not being updated. I performed the following steps in the Windows Mobile ActiveSync/Menu/Options:
- Unchecked tasks
- Tapped ok
- Returned to Menu/Options
- Checked tasks
- Tapped ok
- Tapped Sync
My tasks were re-synched and the error disappeared. Easy enough, but I am not quite sure what I did to corrupt my task data store. I am so glad my inbox, contacts, calendar and tasks are stored on Exchange at 4smartphone.net.
Hooray! That did the trick. Far easier than getting my Exchange Administrator to update certificates or restart IIS as I saw suggested elsewhere...
Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestion. I agree with cs white. As I AM the Exchange Administrator I thought it very strange that their was a problem with the certifcates, and restarting IIS didn't work.
Your suggestion worked like a charm!

Microsoft PSS needs to review their KB on this error. I use a 4smartphone.net hosted exchange and they could not easily restart IIS so they suggested this fix.

ActiveSync on your mobile device. Options is the top entry under the right soft key menu.

Same problem but with the EMAIL folder.
Solution is the same PRINCIPLE.
Uncheck EMAIL - SYNCH
Check EMAIL - SYNCH
User with grayed out options. Unplug machine from wire and allow it to finish a synch. Options then becomes available.

Hi
Thanks for the help above. Tried the method you recommended. Work for my task and calendar but did not work for my contact. Still getting the same error. the interesting thing is i am not syncing with Exchange. Just my laptop.
I am using a Eten X500 running on WM6. Previously I have sync with my 818pro without such issue. Please advice.

Hi,sort out the problem. Apparently, my pst file has some error. Run the scanpst.exe and found errors in in my contact. Thanks

I have had the same problem and resolved it in another way:
1 - run scanoft.exe
2 - sync'd all calendar rather than just last 2 weeks.
it was this #2 item that seemed to make things work.

I had exactly the same problem. After reading some hints telling me not using an USB hub (while I am syncing through GPRS) or about certificate problems (no, this cannot be the reason for no longer syncing tasks but anything else), you solved my problem. Thanks.

Thanks a million! It worked great - unchecking and then rechecking the tasks! Good to know what to do...I've been having problems on and off for a while.

Thanks for the assistance. My problem started at about the same time that I replaced my Jasjar's battery. Coincidence? Maybe.

It sounds like your system registry is corrupted, you may have to perform a clear storage to perform a hard reset on your system. Make sure you backup any files you want to keep before performing the hard reset.
